Why Phone Verification is Important
Verifying your phone number in Google Merchant Center (GMC) is an essential step for meeting Google’s Trust and Safety standards. This step builds trust with Google, improves your business’s credibility, and ensures compliance for your product listings and ads. Kliken simplifies this process through your Google Shopping checklist. Without completing a verification step, your Merchant Center Account cannot be approved and your ads will not be able to run.
Step 1: Go to the Phone Verification Step
Log in to your Kliken account and navigate to the Google Shopping checklist in your dashboard.
Find the step labeled "Google needs to verify your phone number."
If you see this step, follow the instructions to verify your phone number.
If you DO NOT see this step, or if you were previously approved, you will need to verify your phone number directly in GMC. You will find instructions on accessing the GMC here. Once you have completed these steps, please return and complete the following;
Log in to Google Merchant Center and go to Business Information > Phone Number.
Follow Google’s instructions to verify your phone number.
If Kliken created your GMC account and you haven’t added yourself as a user, follow the instructions in your Kliken dashboard to add yourself using a Google account-associated email address.
Step 2: Choose Your Phone Number and Verification Method
If You Have Already Verified:
Click “I already verified my number for Google” to proceed to the next step in the checklist.
If You Have Not Verified:
Select your country code and enter your phone number.
Choose a verification method:
Verify by Text: Receive a verification code via SMS.
Verify by Call: Receive the code via a phone call.
Note: If your phone cannot receive SMS and you select Verify by Text, you’ll receive an error message. In this case, choose Verify by Call.
Step 3: Enter Your Verification Code
Wait for the verification code to arrive by text or call.
Enter the code in the provided text box to complete verification.
Additional Notes and Troubleshooting
Verification Code Limits: You can request a verification code up to 5 times within a 4-hour period. If you reach this limit, wait a few hours before trying again or use a different phone number.
Optional Verification in Google Merchant Center: If you prefer to verify your phone number directly in GMC, follow the instructions in Business Information > Phone Number.
