What Happens After I Schedule a Boost?

Your Boost Is Scheduled — What Happens Next?

After you select Purchase, your boost moves into Scheduled status. This means:

  • It's approved and queued

  • It hasn't started delivering yet

  • It will launch automatically at your selected start time

Can I change a boost after I purchase it?

Before you select Purchase, you can edit any section of your boost.

After purchase, you can still change some things in place — whether the boost is scheduled or already running:

  • Targeting and audience

  • The end date, to extend the run

  • The budget, to increase it

Some things lock once you purchase and can't be changed in place:

  • The goal

  • The post you're boosting

  • Lowering the budget

The start date can still be changed while the boost is scheduled, but it locks once the boost goes live.

To change the goal, the post, or to lower the budget, cancel the boost and create a new one. Refund rules apply when you cancel — see Billing & Refunds for Promoted Posts.

When does it go live?

At your selected start time:

  • Paid delivery begins automatically

  • Your post starts appearing to a broader audience across Facebook and Instagram

  • You'll receive a "Boost is live" email

Until it reaches its start time, your boost won't deliver.
