When setting up Facebook Ads in the app, you must connect your Facebook account correctly. Below are the requirements and answers to common questions if the connection fails.
What do I need before connecting my Facebook account?
You’ll need:
A Facebook Business Page for the URL/Company you are advertising.
An Instagram account linked to that Business Page.
A user with Admin permissions on both the Page and Instagram account.
If a pixel exists, Dataset (Pixel) permissions granted in Business Manager.
Why does the app connect to my personal account instead of my business page?
This is normal — the app begins with your personal Facebook login. That profile must be linked to the Business Manager.
To fix:
Log into Facebook.
Go to Business Settings → Users → People.
Confirm your personal profile is listed with Admin (Full Control) access.
If it isn’t, invite your personal profile (or have someone this administrator access complete this step) and assign Admin rights.
Refresh the connection screen in the app.
Why is my Facebook Pixel not showing up?
If you already have a Facebook pixel, but your pixel doesn’t appear during setup, it’s usually a permission issue.
To fix:
Go to Business Manager.
Confirm your profile has Dataset (Pixel) permissions.
If permissions were just updated, refresh the app connection page and wait a few minutes.
If problems continue, revoke access in the app and reconnect.
Why can’t I select both my Business Page and Instagram account?
The selections appear in separate sections of the setup screen. You must:
Choose your Business Page in the first section.
Choose your Instagram account in the second section.
This is not an “either/or” choice — you can and should select both.
Does it matter if my Business Manager uses a different email from my personal Facebook login?
No. It’s normal for your Business Manager login to use a different email than your personal Facebook login.
What matters is that the personal Facebook profile you log in with has Admin rights in Business Manager for:
The Business Page
The Instagram account
The Pixel
