Setting Up and Accessing Goals

What are Goals?

Goals are used to track specific actions on your website. For example, if you have an e-commerce store, a goal could be when a customer reaches the post-checkout page, confirming they have made a purchase. By setting up goals, you can determine if that user came from a marketing campaign or found your website organically. You can also assign an estimated revenue achieved by meeting that goal, which helps you calculate your CPA (cost per acquisition). This is especially useful for businesses that want to track their marketing spend and ensure they are getting a good return on investment.

Accessing Goals

To access your goals,

  • Log In to the Kliken App either directly (if you are a direct Kliken customer), or through the corresponding partner dashboard.

  • Once you are in your account,

    • Click on 'Account' and in the sub menu,

    • Click on 'Website Goals'

This will take you to the Goals section, where you can set-up, view and manage your goals.

Why Use Goal Tracking?

Goal tracking is included with our free visitor analytics. This means you can stay on top of your visitors, their engagement levels, the landing pages they enter your website on, and whether they are helping you achieve your goals. By tracking your goals, you can gain valuable insights into your website's performance and make data-driven decisions to improve your business.

Setting Up Goals

Setting up goals can be done in a few clicks of a mouse. Once you've navigated to the Website Goals page, you'll be presented with the set-up process.

  1. Step 1 - Create the 'Goal Name'.

    1. This can be as detailed as you would like, but best practice is to name it in a convention that ties it to the action / type. For example, if you're tracking a purchase event goal, then having a goal name such as 'Purchases' helps make it clear. While it seems straight forward, sometimes this is the best option!

  2. Step 2 - Select the 'Goal Type' from the dropdown.

  3. Step 3 - Input the 'Average Revenue'.

    1. The average revenue can be as simple as the average revenue per order on your site, to as detailed as the average revenue per goal type. Normally, we view this as the Average Product or Service Price x Your Conversion Rate. In a real word example, if the average product price on your site is $50, and you convert 5% of visitors, your average revenue would equal $2.50.

  4. Step 4 - Input the Goal URL or Create a JavaScript Snippet

    1. You can either insert the URL where the 'goal type' event will occur or;

    2. Select Use a JavaScript Snippet and then select 'Add Goal'.

      1. Once you do this, you'll be prompted to copy the code into the page where the event you have selected occurs.

Once you have done the above, you can repeat for other goal types (or, even the same goal - but on other pages of your site),
